This is a short one today you’ll be glad to know. Three weeks since my last run. An operation on my nose and breathing that doesn’t seem at this moment in time to have worked. I’ve been stuck in not being able to do much, but one thing I have been able to do is reconnect with a lot of music. I started listening to Falkirk’s Lewis Wilson again and one track in particular I kept playing over and over. “Through the trees.” I decided that when I could make it out for a run again I would go and do the 5 mile circuit at Chatelherault country park (I’ve talked about Chatelherault before, HERE), and run through the trees. On Thursday I did just that. It had been raining, I knew it would be muddy and that appealed even more. Gear on for the first time in weeks, excitedly, and even decided to strap on the Go Pro to see if I could get anything from it.
Elaine took Betsy the dog for a walk while I hit the trails. And it was everything I had missed and everything I had looked forward to. Don’t get me wrong, it was tough. At the top of the Green Bridge Hill I stopped for a breather happy to have just made it up, it’s a killer. But the head was cleared. Nature at it’s best on my doorstep and I just ran soaking it all in. Through the mud, up the hills, down the hills, through the trees, oh man it was so good reconnecting with running at it’s most basic and beautiful again. I recommend it to you all. Get out to the trails this weekend, lose yourself in the beauty. I’m going to start doing this more often again, it’s good for the soul 🙂
I stuck the go pro on and filmed the bulk of the run and have speeded it up. And it’s very amateurish 🙂 I’ve soundtracked it with 4 of Lewis’ songs, so maybe have a wee watch and listen and support his music.
